The Eclipse screwgate is a hot forged, fully anodised and very strong locking carabiner with a large internal capacity.
It has an enduring popularity because of its size weight ratio - it is larger than most offset D screwgates, but does not carry the weight or strength penalties of most HMS carabiners. It is a great all-rounder; big enough to handle lots of rope when used for rigging and yet light enough for carrying up routes to protect belays. The biner is constructed entirely from 7075 series aluminium. Although it costs more to use thick 7075 material on the barrel it provides a much higher safety reserve when leverage is applied across the gate.
It is also anodised for protection against the elements especially coastal and rigorous mountain environments. 67g
